Lord Krishna – The Eighth Avatar of Lord Vishnu

Lord Krishna, also called Bhagavan Krishna, is one of the most loved and worshipped deities in Hinduism. He is known as the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, the preserver and protector of the universe. Krishna is celebrated for his divine qualities, wise teachings, and enchanting life stories.

Birth and Childhood
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna was born in Mathura to Queen Devaki and King Vasudeva. To protect him from danger, he was raised in Vrindavan by his foster parents, Nanda and Yashoda. Krishna is often shown as a charming young boy with blue skin and a peacock feather in his crown.

Teachings in the Bhagavad Gita
Krishna’s life is described in detail in the Mahabharata, especially in the Bhagavad Gita. In this sacred text, he gives deep spiritual guidance to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, teaching about duty, devotion, and self-realization.

Krishna’s Leelas (Divine Pastimes)
Lord Krishna is also famous for his playful and miraculous acts, called leelas. These include his loving bond with the gopis, his special relationship with Radha, and his many miracles — such as lifting Govardhan Hill to protect villagers from heavy rain.
