LORD KRISHNA

Lord Krishna, also known as Bhagavan Krishna, is a central figure in Hinduism and one of the most widely revered deities. He is considered the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, the preserver and sustainer of the universe. Lord Krishna is renowned for his divine qualities, teachings, and enchanting pastimes.

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna was born in Mathura to Queen Devaki and King Vasudeva. He was raised by his foster parents, Nanda and Yashoda, in the village of Vrindavan. Lord Krishna is often depicted as a youthful and charming figure, with blue skin and a peacock feather in his crown.

Lord Krishna’s life and teachings are extensively described in the epic Mahabharata, particularly in the Bhagavad Gita, where he imparts profound spiritual wisdom to the warrior prince Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The Bhagavad Gita serves as a guide to righteous living, emphasizing the importance of duty, devotion, and self-realization.

Krishna is also known for his childhood and adolescent pastimes, which are collectively referred to as “leelas.” These include his endearing interactions with the cowherd girls (gopis), especially his beloved Radha, his playful acts, and his miraculous feats such as lifting the Govardhan Hill to protect the villagers from a rainstorm.
